I TRY TO KEEP / A CONSTANT RHYTHM
IF NIGHT / FOLLOWS DAY

Four large scale banners, installed around the atrium of CBMR. Each letter is a cyanotype print, the colour varies across them according to the sunlight conditions they were exposed in.

PROTOCOLS explores the tension between the necessity and impossibility of keeping regular rhythms for circadian and metabolic health - and the particularities and peculiarities of being a living, breathing human in the world, with desires, idiosyncrasies, and a complex and fluid connection to our surroundings.

The text is inspired by conversations with circadian scientists about their research and how they manage their time. It’s taken from the script of Time Animals, a recent film about the process of measuring time in the laboratories at CBMR.

An account of the production process can be found in the project archives of Statens Værksteder for Kunst.
