Project commissioned by Bretton Greens and Peterborough Presents

Under the pavement, a pool.

A project developing a public artwork for Bretton, Peterborough in collaboration with local residents and community groups. The challenge of how public space could be made more playful was explored through a series of public meetings and school workshops.

These led to the idea for a mural occupying a concreted over paddling pool site. The mural was painted in a collaborative effort during an open weekend, with the design based on students sketch from a workshop, which used imagery and colours inspired by the sites former function. Diving boards and bubbles, the concrete becomes water again.
